Host a Show

We are a touring theatre company that produces fresh and family-friendly adaptations of classic works as well as commissioned productions specifically created for venues. We pride ourselves on being able to work in a variety of spaces and venues (from churchyards to coastal forts, care homes to cathedrals)

If you're looking for a magical theatrical performance for your venue then look no further! Hosting a a production by us couldn't be simpler.

A Great Production!

A fantastically staged production lasting between 75-90 minutes depending on title and target audience, performed by professional actors, that takes care of the venue. We use rubber foot staging that is adjustable in height so we ensure audiences get the best view of the show whilst ensuring minimal damage to surfaces. We recognise the importance of our surroundings and have been performing in listed buildings and heritage sites for close to ten years now!

Ability to Perform Anywhere (...Pretty Much!)

A bold statement but a true one! As all of our shows have live music and song and our lighting is battery operated, we don't require power. So if you've got the perfect spot in your venue don't let a lack of power supply stop you from booking one of our shows to perform there as we can boldly go where others simply can't!

Live Music

We are renowned for the live music in our productions performed by our professional casts of actor/musicians and arranged for each production by our own in-house composer. We also offer 30 minutes of live music as a pre-show as audience arrive to create atmosphere, though of course if event organisers would prefer not to have this, it isn't a problem at all.

Accommodation

We arrange and pay for all company accommodation and transport.

Worried About the Weather?

Don't be! We perform in all but dangerous conditions and have yet to have cancel a show due to weather. If venues happen to have an alternative indoor space then we are more than happy to move location on the day as we have easy to erect and flexible staging. We can also look at delaying start times to allow for heavy showers/storms to pass and if worse comes to worst and a show has to be cancelled due to the weather then we will happily reschedule the performance for another day.

Timings

We aim to arrive at venues 3 hours before doors open to set up and ask for an hour after the audience has cleared the space following the show to pack down. This might vary a little depending on vehicle access but we go through all those sorts of details once booking has been confirmed. â€‹

What can you expect from us?

What Do We Ask of You?

We ask that our Venues/Organisers:

  • Obtain a Temporary Events Notice where required.

  • To supply a suitable space for a performance. Our standard staging is 6m wide x 3m deep but we are able to adapt some titles to smaller stage set ups to suit spaces. If you're unsure about the suitability of a space please drop us an email with photographs and/or dimensions and we would be more than happy to advise. If the prospective performance space is outdoors then it is always useful to bear in mind the orientation of the sun in relation to the site, the proximity of roads, access to running water, the presence of mature trees, the distance from the car parking and toilet facilities, as well as drainage, gradients, acoustics, presence of animals and access for audience and our company van. If you need any help then we are more than happy to arrange a site visit.

  • To not exceed the agreed audience capacity.

  • If you are the Ticket Vendor for the performance, to operate a box office at the entrance to the site on the day of the performance where possible. If this isn't possible then we can arrange this for you. We will provide a member of our team to manage tickets sold by Cue Marketing.

  • To provide stewards for the performance site, in addition to those operating the box office.

    • Note: Stewards must be on duty from 10 minutes prior to the agreed arrival time for audience.

  • For shows with intervals stewards are also required to monitor the stage throughout the interval.

  • Provide some help with local marketing outreach. We find that our Venues/Organisers often have great ties with local press outlets or groups who might be interested in attending our events. We therefore like to work closely with our Venues/Organisers to make sure that as many people as possible hear about our productions whether this is through putting up the posters/banners we supply or reaching out to local press contacts that you might already have an existing relationship with.

  • To supply a secure room (not necessarily near the performance area) for the cast to use as a dressing room where possible. They will only use it before and after the show, and during an interval - not during the performance itself. If this isn't possible please just let us know so that we can advise the cast beforehand.

  • To supply light refreshments, including tea/coffee, for the This Is My Theatre team where possible. Drinking water must be available. If this isn't possible then please let us know beforehand so we can bring supplies - some of our venues are in the most rural locations so we try to come prepared!

  • Access to a toilet for our company members whilst at the venue.

  • We ask for a non-refundable deposit on all bookings of £100 to secure the date and cover initial administration and marketing costs.

  • On Box Office Split arrangements we may ask for a Guarantee Price. Guarantees are priced according to capacity of venue and, as we work with a lot of small charities, the financial ability of the hosting group. Please email us to discuss, particularly if you are a small venue or charity organisation - we are happy to negotiate and would hate for this to put you off having a show! You can find out more about Guarantees here.
